Motiva Yacht; cover, cost and conditions

Motiva is a brand of cruising sailing yachts with one feature that runs through the whole range: the deck saloon. Instead of a flat deck with a cabin beneath it, this type has a raised saloon with windows all round and usually a second steering position inside. Anyone sailing one sits dry and still sees out, which is meant for cold wet water rather than for a Mediterranean summer. You recognise the yachts by the tall superstructure carried well forward with its large glazed areas and by the heavy robust finish.

Our model records list 43 Motiva models, 39 of them sailing yachts and four motor yachts. Recorded build years run from 1975 to 2012. Forty three series are recorded: the Motiva models 37, 38, 39, 41, 43, 45, 49, 57 and 60 as D and 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 41 and 44 as S, plus the 20 m and the motor yachts MY 1170 and MY 1300. A deck saloon buys visibility and shelter at a price, and the price is glass. Large windows in a raised superstructure are a structural element as much as a view, and they are what takes the load when a sea comes aboard.
