Ola Astilleros s.l. appears in our data as the maker of North Wind sailing yachts, spelled Northwind on the older boats. The North Wind yard stood on the outskirts of Barcelona and was linked over the years with other Catalan builders, among them Astilleros Viudes; in 2004 it passed to Monty Nautic, a Catalan yard that built and repaired large yachts. The number in each name gives roughly the length in feet, and the spelling hints at the era: one word on the older designs, two on the later ones.

Our records list 17 models, all sailing yachts: ten spelled Northwind and seven North Wind. Build years start in 1971 with the Northwind 39 and end in 2005, the final year for five lines. Lengths go from 10.82 metres (Northwind 36) to 26 metres (North Wind 85). Eleven designs fall between 10.82 and 14.3 metres, four between 15.1 and 18.6 metres, and two go beyond: the North Wind 70 at 21.33 metres and the 85.

Every North Wind is now at least two decades old, so condition matters more than the brochure. Standing rigging, chainplates, keel bolts and teak decks are the usual places to look on a yacht of this age, and a recent survey is worth having. The bigger models from 15 metres are passage makers that need a deep berth and a yard able to lift them, while the smaller Northwinds suit coastal cruising from a home marina.
