Ottenhome is based in Heeg in Friesland and closely tied to a classic of Dutch sailing, the Valk. E. G. van de Stadt drew it in 1939 for Bruynzeel, who wanted to show off his new plywood. The Valk is an open two-person keelboat of 6.5 metres, and Bruynzeel built the first 200 in plywood. Since the 1970s polyester versions have been made, among others by Ottenhome in Heeg, and this Polyvalk became a familiar sight in hire fleets, sailing schools and leisure sailing. On the waterfront in Heeg, Ottenhome today also runs boat hire, a restaurant and sailing events.

The Polyvalk dominates with five entries: the original Ottenhome Heeg Polyvalk from 1974 plus the Classic, Racing, Revolution and Revolution Liftkiel versions, all between 6.57 and 6.65 metres. A Polyvalk often lives a busy life as a hire boat, a school boat or a club racer, and that shows in the wear points. Check the rudder fittings, the mainsheet track and the keel attachment, and look for gelcoat cracks around the shroud plates. The Revolution Liftkiel has a lifting keel, so the mechanism and its housing need a look on any used example. The name of the River Cruise models points to rivers and lakes; on these boats engine hours and cooling tell more than the hull. Most of the range is easy to trail, which makes the road trailer part of every inspection.
