Plastex Composite; cover, cost and conditions
In Finland, Plastex builds racing kayaks and racing canoes from composite material for competition use, boats that are in service in European clubs and national teams, with values in the mid four-figure range. Competitive use is the point that determines the policy.
Races are not included in standard hull insurance. With a racing kayak, however, competition is the purpose of the boat, and the typical damage occurs there: collision on the lane, damage while putting the boat in and taking it out under time pressure, damage in the boat store at the regatta course. Here the inclusion is not an option but the precondition for a policy that makes sense.
For clubs there is also the question of use. A boat that is used by changing athletes is not private use, so register the club operation with the number of boats and the type of use. We insure club fleets and put a list with individual values into the policy, which considerably simplifies the handling of a claim.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
