QuantBoats; cover, cost and conditions
QuantBoats is a Swiss company building sailing boats with hydrofoils. Its designer is Hugh Welbourn, who developed the Dynamic Stability System, or DSS, a lifting foil that slides out to leeward. The Quant 28 and Quant 30 already used DSS, and the Quant 23 went further as the first foiling keelboat, named European Yacht of the Year. The first production Quant 23 came from the Paul Jennings yard in Cowes, England. Model numbers are close to the length in feet, while the smallest boats are simply called Nikki and Skeeta.
Our model records hold seven QuantBoats designs, six sailboats and one sailing yacht. The list opens in 2008 with the Quant 28, recorded until 2018. The Quant 30 follows from 2012 to 2021, the Quant 23 from 2012 into the latest build years and the Quant 17 from 2015 to 2021. The Nikki and Skeeta appear from 2018 and reach the latest years too. The newest model is the Quant 33 GT, the only sailing yacht, recorded from 2022 to 2026. Lengths run from 2.9 metres (Quant Nikki) to 10 metres (Quant 33 GT).
Quant boats are made for fast sailing on lakes and coastal race courses, and their foils call for care. Retract them before shallow water or the slipway, check bearings and foil surfaces for damage after each season and store them protected from knocks. The smaller models travel on a trailer between regatta venues, while the Quant 33 GT is a berth boat with room for longer days on the water.
