ROTO d.o.o. is a Slovenian company that specialises in rotational moulding of plastic products. The group is based in Slovenia and runs plants in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and North Macedonia among other countries. Boats are a branch of their own, today sold under the name ROTO Nautica. There is no glassfibre and no laminating involved: polyethylene is turned inside a heated mould and settles against its walls until the hull is formed. The ROTO 450s comes out of this process in one piece, made from a three layer polyethylene sandwich, partly from recycled material and recyclable in turn. That method is also how you spot one: smooth, self coloured plastic surfaces without gelcoat, rounded tough edges and a remarkably low weight. The current range also includes the Hydra 460, the Hydra 530 and the Korkyra 650 catamaran.
