Worth knowing
Scharstein; cover, cost and conditions
Two model ranges are recorded, both with the same build period from 1965 to 1972: the Kleine Belt as a motor boat and the Kleine Sundkreuzer as a sailing boat. We have no further models on file. This changes nothing about inclusion in the policy, because it is the individual boat that is insured.
We also accept small series and home builds. If comparative values are missing, the value is agreed as an agreed value and, in the event of a claim, paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). In the Premium tariff, full hull cover applies here with no age limit. Year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners play no part in acceptance.
Motor boat and sailing boat are calculated differently: for the Kleine Belt via the engine output, for the Kleine Sundkreuzer via the sail area. In each case the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range are added; the brand is left out and does not change the premium.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can small series and home builds be insured?
Yes, for Scharstein too: we accept both.
The value is determined through an agreed value,
so that in the event of a claim there is no argument about comparable prices,
and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Why is a sailing boat calculated differently from a motor boat?
For Scharstein: Because on sailing boats the sail area and on motor boats the engine output enters
into the premium.
Type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range apply equally to both.

Series by Scharstein, build years and cover
Kleiner Belt is a motorboat from Scharstein, built from 1965 to 1972.
Kleiner Sundkreuzer is a sailing boat from Scharstein, built from 1965 to 1972.
For the Kleiner Belt and Kleiner Sundkreuzer by Scharstein series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Kleiner Belt by Scharstein series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Kleiner Sundkreuzer by Scharstein series:
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides.
A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
