Shiren; cover, cost and conditions

Shiren is the boat brand of the Spanish yard Astilleros Deportivos Carboneras, which built motor boats for Mediterranean fishing and day trips, plus a few power catamarans. The range was split into lines: Fisher, built around fishing with a big step free cockpit, Plus for nimble boats for swimming and cruising, and Sport, Open and CC. The name shows the age: older models carry a three digit number such as 404 or 595, roughly the length in centimetres, newer ones a two digit number such as 23 followed by the line.

Our model records list 33 models, 30 motor boats and three power catamarans, built between 2001 and 2020, none in current production. Lengths go from four to 13.1 metres, with half between six and 8.4 metres. The early range of 2001 to 2012 has nine models from the 404 at four metres to the 656 versions at 6.6 metres. The two digit range runs from the Shiren 13 at four metres to the 28 Fisher at 8.8 metres. At the top sit the 920 and 930 and the CAT 860, 1100 and 1300 catamarans from 8.6 to 13.1 metres.

A Shiren is a coastal fishing and day boat, usually with an outboard; the 27 Fisher IB has an inboard. All are used boats now, many kept on moorings along the Spanish coast. Value comes from engine hours, fishing kit and electronics, and the state of deck and gelcoat.
