UMS Boats is a Ukrainian maker of aluminium boats that also builds boat trailers. The hulls are made from 5083 alloy, a grade widely used in boatbuilding. For the UMS 865, its largest series cabin boat, the maker quotes five millimetre plating and CE category C. The model numbers give the length in centimetres, more or less, and the letters describe the layout: CC for a centre console, DC for a dual console and CAB for a cabin version. On the newer boats the line name comes first, so Sport, Sport Fishing, Pro Fishing or Pro Performer sits in front of the number.

Our model records hold 34 designs: 33 motorboats and one motorsailer, the UMS Tuna 600 Cruiser. The earliest entries, the UMS 410 CC and the UMS 550 DC, start in 2014. Fifteen designs reach into the most recent build years, and all of them belong to the newer lines introduced between 2017 and 2019: four Sport, five Sport Fishing, three Pro Fishing and three Pro Performer models. Aluminium is forgiving on rocky shores and boat ramps, but it has its own needs. Mixed metals are the main enemy: stainless fittings, a bronze through-hull or a badly earthed battery can start galvanic corrosion, so anodes and wiring deserve a close look every season. Boats of this size often travel on a trailer, which means bearings, brakes and lights matter as much as the hull. On a used UMS it pays to check the welds around the transom and the console mounts, the condition of the floor and the hours on the engine. Fishing boats tend to collect extra holes for rod holders and sounders, and every one of them should be properly sealed.
