Vivian Industries was a boatbuilder from Vivian, Louisiana, behind the VIP, Deckliner and BayStealth brands. Its range was made up of runabouts and deck boats for lakes, rivers and coastal water, built in a large plant that also produced its own upholstery and trailers. The company filed for bankruptcy in March 2008, and Caddo Manufacturing took over part of the assets and resumed building boats in the former plant at the end of 2009. Later VIP models carry four digit numbers, the early ones letter codes such as SK, V and X.

Our model records list 15 Vivian Industries models, 14 motorboats and one motor yacht, the Vip 2700. The earliest build year is 1975, for the Vip 1886, VIP SK 15 and VIP SK 17. Five models form the early letter series, recorded until 1982 or 1984. Eight start in 1996, among them the Vip 184, 1900, 2100, 2102 Viscount, 2400 and 2700, and run to 2005 or 2006. Lengths span 4.68 metres for the VIP SK 15 to 8.2 metres for the Vip 2700.

VIP boats are trailer boats at heart: open, easy to handle and suited to a day on the lake or a run along the shore. Most examples today are second hand, so a check of the transom, floor and wiring tells more than the model year.
