Dresport; cover, cost and conditions
Dresport is short for Drassanes Esportives S.A., a Spanish yard that built its sailing yachts under the Furia name. According to the shipyard directory on sailwiki, the company was active from 1972 to 1993 and no longer exists. Over those two decades it produced ten models between 8.08 and 13.38 metres, from compact cruisers to yachts suited to longer passages. The Furia 28 came first, in the second half of the seventies. The Furia 25, 32 and 37 followed in the early eighties, and later in that decade came the Furia 26, the Furia 1000 and 1040, the Furia 44 and the Furia 382, offered in both a Cruising and a Regatta version. The last new model on the list is the Furia 372 from the early nineties. Anyone trying to identify a Furia should check the exact type name, because an Italian yard also built a boat called Furia that has no connection with Dresport.
Our model records hold one line from Dresport: the Furia, a sailing yacht 8 metres long, listed with build years from 1981 to 1987. Which variant a given boat actually is only becomes clear from the type name in its papers or on the transom, since several of the yard's models fell into this size range. A yacht of this length is a typical choice for coastal waters, large lakes and weekend trips with two to four people on board. The newest boats in that span are now close to forty years old.
Because the yard closed in the nineties, owners of a Furia depend on general chandlery for spare parts and on each other for knowledge. The shipyard directory points to clubfuria.com as a starting place. On a boat of this age it pays to look closely at the chainplates, the keel bolts and the rudder bearings, at the condition of the standing rigging and at any signs of osmosis on the hull. Deck fittings that were sealed decades ago are a common source of leaks. A Furia that has been looked after well remains a capable yacht for coastal cruising, and the range of sizes the yard offered means that an owner can move from a smaller Furia to a larger one without leaving the family.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What does the legal expenses cover for water sports help with?
For Dresport: It applies to disputes around the boat,
for instance after the purchase of a used boat or in a dispute with a yard.
We offer it in addition to the boat policy.
Does a yacht from the 1980s remain insurable?
Yes, for Dresport too: We insure regardless of year of construction,
place of purchase and previous owners.
In full hull cover the age limit is dropped in the Premium tariff,
and indemnity is based on the agreed value.
Which Furia models did Dresport build?
For Dresport: Ten models from 8.08 to 13.38 metres: the Furia 28 in the late seventies,
the Furia 25, 32 and 37 in the early eighties, then the Furia 26, 1000, 1040, 44 and 382,
and finally the Furia 372 in the early nineties.
Is the Dresport Furia the same boat as the Dullia Furia D25?
No.
Dresport was a Spanish yard and Dullia an Italian one.
Both had a boat called Furia in their range, and the shared name is a coincidence.
The exact type name in the boat's papers tells them apart.

Series by Dresport, build years and cover
Furia is a sailing yacht from Dresport, built from 1981 to 1987.
For the Furia by Dresport series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Furia by Dresport series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
