Worth knowing
Gulf-Stream; cover, cost and conditions
When buying a used Tahitiana the replacement value counts, not the price back then. The model range was built between 1974 and 1999, so the span of years of construction is correspondingly wide. When the policy is taken out we agree an agreed value that applies in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Further information about the yard is not available to us, and the only range on record is the Tahitiana. That is enough, because we insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. Small series and home-built boats can be insured as well, and the brand never enters into the calculation.
If there was a dispute at the time of purchase about promised characteristics, the legal expenses cover for water sports that we offer alongside helps. The boat insurance itself starts with third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, on which limited hull cover and full hull cover build.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What matters for the sum insured?
The replacement value. It is agreed as an agreed value and is the basis of the compensation in the event of a claim, with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) and, in the Premium tariff, with no age limit.
Can a yacht from 1974 still be insured?
Yes. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. Full hull cover with an agreed value is possible in the Premium tariff with no age limit for the boat.

Series by Gulf-Stream, build years and cover
Tahitiana is a sailing yacht from Gulf-Stream, built from 1974 to 1999.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
