Haag appears in our data as a builder of sailing yachts in classic rig types during the 1980s. The model names describe the boats: Ketch for two masts with the smaller mizzen aft, Kutter, the German word for cutter, for a rig with more than one headsail, and Slup or Sloop for a single mast and one headsail. A number follows. Sometimes it reads like a length in metres, as with the Ketch 12,20 at 12.2 metres and the FY 15,30 at 15.3 metres; sometimes it is a type number, as with the Slup 119, 144 and 148.

Build years sit close together: the Sloop 8 starts in 1983, every other model in 1984, and all end in 1991. By rig there are three ketches, two cutters and six sloops, including the Renn Slup 259 and the Sloop 8, plus the FY 15,30 and the MS 15. Lengths range from 7.5 metres for the Slup 251 to 16.3 metres for the Ketch 14. Four models stay under 10 metres, six sit between 10.5 and 12.5 metres and three are larger.
Every Haag is now at least thirty five years old, and many have been refitted along the way. A ketch rig means two sets of spars, standing rigging and sails to look after, while the cutters carry more headsail hardware. Before buying, a rig check and a moisture reading of the hull pay off. The larger yachts need a deep water berth and a yard crane that can handle their weight.
