Haber Yachts is a Polish yard founded in 1991 by Janusz Konkol in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie, in the north of the country. Much of the work stays in house: composite and wooden hull parts, metal fittings and rigging components are made on site, and laminating is done by hand. The yachting press describes the approach as semi-custom, with each boat taken from moulds and then fitted out to its owner's wishes. The sailing yachts are recognisable by their classic lines and cutter rigs, some of them with a gaff, a rig more often seen on traditional craft than on new boats.
Our model records list 16 designs: eight sailing yachts, seven motor yachts and one motorboat. Build years run from 2002 to 2018, and none is shown as running into recent production. A gaff cutter asks for steady attention. Gaff jaws, throat and peak halyards and the bowsprit fittings want checking each season, and the extra running rigging means more lines to renew. Wooden trim and joinery reward regular oiling or varnish, and hand-laid composite hulls should be inspected for any signs of moisture around through-hull fittings. Because the yard fitted out boats to individual order, two examples of the same model can differ a good deal in layout and equipment, so the build specification and later changes are worth reading carefully when buying used.
