ICE Yachts s.r.l.; cover, cost and conditions
ICE Yachts is an Italian yard in Salvirola, a small town east of Milan. Marco Malgara founded it in 2012. He had been looking for a used yacht of around 60 feet, could not find the right one, and agreed with Umberto Felci, owner of CN Yacht 2000, to lease that company and build his own boat there. Along with the halls of the older yard, ICE took on its experienced boatbuilders. The range covers aft-cockpit sailing yachts and performance cruisers, alongside a line of sailing catamarans. Generous use of carbon fibre, a high degree of customisation for each owner and production kept in-house wherever possible are the features the yard itself puts first.
Our model records list 19 designs: 16 monohulls and three sailing catamarans. Every entry starts between 2015 and 2020, and twelve lines reach into the most recent build years. The smallest boat is the ICE 33 at just under ten metres, built until 2021. From there the range jumps to 15.8 metres with the ICE 52, the 52 rs and the ICE 54. Around 18 metres sit the ICE 60, 60 Grand Comfort, 60 Rs and 62 Targa, while the ICE 62 measures 16.8 metres. The ICE 66 RS comes to 19.9 metres, and the ICE 70, 70 RS, 72, 80 and 82 all exceed 20 metres. At the top stands the ICE 100 at 30.7 metres. The catamarans ICE Cat 61 and 67 ran until 2021, while the ICE Cat SEVENTYTWO at 22 metres is listed from 2020.
Carbon structures reward a careful eye. On a used ICE, a survey with ultrasound or thermal imaging around the chainplates, the keel attachment and the rudder bearings tells more than a walk through the saloon. Large rigs and sail wardrobes age with miles rather than years, so the logbook and the sailmaker's records matter. Performance cruisers of this size put winches, hydraulics and furlers under steady load, and their service history belongs in any sale. On the catamarans, both hulls, the bridgedeck and the joints between hulls and deck structure should be inspected. Owners of the larger yachts also need to check that their usual marina and haul-out yard can take the length, beam and draft.

As the ICE 52 rs, ICE 54, ICE 60 by ICE Yachts s.r.l.
and 9 more series are still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.

and 4 more series the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the ICE 52 rs, ICE 54, ICE 60 by ICE Yachts s.r.l.
and further series: On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For the ICE Cat SEVENTYTWO, ICE Cat 61, ICE Cat 67 by ICE Yachts s.r.l.
series: On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
