Impala Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
The Impala line comes from Denmark and was drawn by E. Bjørn Jensen, a naval architect from Svendborg. The first Impala was a plywood boat of about 30 feet with a hard chine. When boatbuilder Henning Stenner on the island of Tåsinge moved production to fibreglass, he kept the chine to underline the shape, while later designs such as the Impala 28 and 36 went over to a round bilge. Many Impalas were sold as kits for home completion in the 1980s. The British Hunter Impala 28 is a separate boat and sits under Hunter in our records.
Our records list six Impala models, all sailing yachts, with build years from 1969 to 2006. The 28 starts in 1969, the 30 in 1970 and the 27 in 1973; the 36 (1982), 33 (1984) and 31 (1989) followed. The 33 and 36 run to 2006, the 31 to 2001 and the 27 to 1998. Lengths range from 8.35 metres for the Impala 27 to 11 metres for the Impala 36, with the 28 at 8.65, the 30 at 9.04, the 31 at 9.25 and the 33 at 10 metres.
Every Impala on the water today is a used boat, some well past fifty. Kit boats differ in finish from one hull to the next, so a buyer should look closely at the interior work, the deck fittings and the keel bolts. A dry winter ashore and a careful check of the chainplates keep an older Danish cruiser sailing for many more seasons.

For the Impala 27, Impala 30 and Impala 28 by Impala Yachts series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Impala 33, Impala 36, Impala 31 by Impala Yachts and further series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
