Polyester Yacht is a family firm at Chojnice in Poland, in Kashubia west of Gdansk. It carries on the production of the earlier yard on the same site, which is why the recorded build years reach further back than the firm itself. What it builds are small boats for leisure, sport and angling: motorboats, rowing boats with an outboard bracket, small cabin sailers, open sailing boats, touring kayaks and tenders. Work is done with wooden plugs and polyester moulds, and the hulls are laid up in glassfibre laminate.
Our model records list 70 Polyester Yacht models: 54 motorboats, six sailing boats, six further craft, two motor yachts and two of no fixed type. Build years start in 1989 and run into current production. Sixty series are recorded, at their core the Marion models from the 355 to the 500 BR in the Cabine, Duo, Open, Classic and Elegance versions. Beside them stand the models named after first names, Alfa, Beata, Beta, Dagmara and Lupus. Lengths run from 2.3 to 7.6 metres, half the models between 4.5 and 6.3 metres. The number gives the length in centimetres.
These are boats of the smallest class, where the outboard is usually worth more than the hull under it and where much of the year is spent on a trailer or in a shed. The gear that goes aboard, an echo sounder, an electric motor, an anchor, is worth listing too, because on a five metre boat it adds up to a real share of the whole.
