Quarken Boats is a young Finnish yard based in Kokkola on Finland's west coast, a region with a long boatbuilding tradition. It was set up by industrial designer Jussi Hurskainen together with Osmo Roukala and Antero Sundberg, all three with backgrounds in Finnish production boats. The Quarken 27, the yard's first model, is a fast weekender offered in three basic versions on one 8.35 metre hull: Open, T-Top with a glassfibre roof, and Cabin.
Our records list six entries, all motorboats and all 8.35 metres long, since they share the Quarken 27 hull. They are the 27 Open, the 27 Open V2, the 27 T-Top, the 27 T-Top V2, the 27 T-Top V2 Onyx and the 27 Cabin. Three belong to the T-Top line, two to the Open line and one to the Cabin line. V2 marks a revised version, Onyx a trim level of the T-Top V2. All six start with build year 2020 and run into the latest years.
A Quarken 27 is a modern, well finished boat with a powerful outboard, built for quick runs between islands. A hull this young needs little beyond regular engine service and a clean bottom. At 8.35 metres it is usually lifted by crane or moved on a heavy trailer, and a winter spot under a roof keeps the upholstery and the T-Top in good shape.
