The Admirals Tender comes from Superior Yachts Development Corp B.V., a company registered under the Dutch B.V. form. The boat itself is a Dutch design from the Van de Stadt office and is built in Taiwan. It is meant as a classic-looking dayboat, a motor launch with a very large cockpit and seating for up to ten guests. The easiest way to recognise one is the traditional profile with a marked tumblehome, the hull drawing inwards along its after sections. Under the short foredeck sits a cuddy with a V-berth, sitting headroom and a sea toilet, and the galley is placed beside the helm. Power comes from a Yanmar diesel on a shaft; the boat tested by the British press had 110 hp and reached about 22 knots.

According to the builder the X28 combines features of the C28 and the S28, adding round seating forward, a sun deck aft and a multi-purpose engine housing, with a 195 hp Yanmar 4LV195. With lengths between 8.5 and 8.9 metres the range is tight, and the differences lie in layout and fit-out.

Launches like this spend much of their life alongside, with guests stepping on and off. The shaft drive asks for regular checks of the stern gland, cutless bearing and propeller, and a Yanmar diesel rewards oil changes and impeller service on schedule.
