Worth knowing
HEPAG GmbH; cover, cost and conditions
With a second-hand purchase, the first question is that of the replacement value. The Symphonie 14,5 M DS was built from 1996 to 2003, and every unit is a used boat today. For this we agree an agreed value, which is indemnified with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").
Legal expenses cover for water sports can be included and applies in a dispute after buying a used boat or with a shipyard. It is complemented by third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, which can be chosen in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium.
On sailing yachts the sail area takes the place of the engine power, and to this are added the type of boat, the value, the year of construction and the cruising range. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards, and you state races with scoring status when taking out the policy. A boat trailer is included at no extra premium.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What counts as the value of a yacht from the nineteen-nineties?
The agreed value set out in the contract. In the event of a total loss it is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff with no age limit, regardless of how many previous owners the boat has had.
Does the legal expenses cover also include a dispute with a shipyard?
Yes. Legal expenses cover for water sports is offered alongside and is tailored to disputes after buying a used boat as well as with a shipyard.

Series by HEPAG GmbH, build years and cover
Symphonie 14,5 M DS is a sailing yacht from HEPAG GmbH, built from 1996 to 2003.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
