Jachtwerf Heeg sits in the village of Heeg, right in the Frisian lake district of the Netherlands. Founded in 1943, the yard builds sailing boats made for those lakes. Its most familiar boat is the Randmeer, an open sailing boat drawn by E.G. van de Stadt, first built in 1962 and restyled in 1992 and again in 2008. The range also includes the Splash, aimed at young sailors of roughly 13 to 21, the G2 keelboat, raced as a one design class since 2006, and the Pointer 25, a small cabin yacht from Van de Stadt Design with a shallow draught for lakes and coastal waters. Long, low lines and roomy cockpits are the common thread.

The Randmeer appears in four versions, Classic, Advance, Touring and Special Edition, all 6.5 metres long; the Randmeer Classic is listed from 1982 to 2018, the Advance and Touring from 2002 and the Special Edition from 2009. The Pointer 22 at 6.5 metres and the Pointer 25 at 7.7 metres start in 2014 and 2011, the G2 at 7.8 metres and the Splash at 3.55 metres in 2010. Seven designs run into the most recent build years. The odd one out is the Valkkruiser 1260, a 12.6 metre motor yacht from 1979 to 1985 and by far the largest entry.
Most Heeg boats live on trailers and shallow inland water. On a used Randmeer or G2, check the keel attachment and the hull around it for signs of hard groundings on sandy lake bottoms. Racing boats often have tired sails and worn running rigging, while touring boats may have years of cockpit wear on the woodwork. The Splash spends much of its life being launched and pulled out by young crews, so look for scrapes along the bottom. A sound road trailer with working lights and bearings is part of the deal with any of these boats.
