MFH stands for Maritime Faserverbundtechnik Haring, a composite specialist from Emden in East Frisia. Its everyday work is fibre-reinforced parts for superyachts, submarines and wind turbines. Building boats under its own name came later, starting with the Tide 36, a quick cruiser with a deliberately retro look. MFH then took over the drawings and rights to a small cruiser by Marc-Oliver von Ahlen, which SQ Yachts of Freienohl had built from 2014 as the SQ 25. At MFH it became the Tide 25, recognisable by its plumb bow and hard chines running the length of the hull, with an open transom and twin rudders as options.
Our model records list two designs, both sailing yachts. The Tide 25 measures 7.5 metres and the TIDE 36 10.7 metres. Build years from 2019 to 2023 are recorded for both, and neither reaches into the most recent build years on our list. These are young boats in small numbers, most of them barely five years old. The Tide 25 was conceived as a trailer sailer and came with a choice of three keels. Owners could choose an outboard, an inboard diesel or electric drive. The Tide 36 is the larger cruising boat of the yard, laid out for brisk sailing.
A trailer sailer lives a double life, so the road trailer deserves as much attention as the boat: bearings, brakes, lights and the keel support all wear. On a Tide 25 with electric drive, ask about the age and charging history of the batteries. Twin rudders should be checked for play in their bearings, and the chines along the hull for scuffs from slipways. Because the boats are so young, a full service record and the original builder documents are usually available and worth asking for. The Tide 36 suits owners who want a sporty cruiser for longer coastal passages.
