Noord Nederland is the short name under which the Dutch yard Jachtbouw Noord Nederland turns up in listings. It built sailing yachts in steel: a 1974 Seahawk 35 offered for sale is described with a hard chine steel hull and a length of 10.5 metres. Two families make up most of the range. Seahawk covers the smaller and mid sized boats, Suncoast the mid sized to large cruising yachts, and on most models the number in the name comes close to the length in feet. Frisian, Steelmaster, N Kreuzer and Sonnenküste are single names outside those two families.

Our model records hold 34 entries under this name: 31 sailing yachts, two motor yachts (the Sverige 1000 and the Wadvaar der II) and the smaller Seahawk I at 7.45 metres. Sixteen are Suncoast models, running from the Suncoast 28 at 8.67 metres to the Suncoast 54 MS at 17.8 metres, and eight carry the Seahawk name. The earliest build year is 1964, for the Seahawk II. Most lines stopped between 1972 and 1988, and the Frisian 39 is the only one recorded until 2002. Fifteen designs are longer than twelve metres, ten are shorter than ten.

Steel yachts of this age live on their paint. Most spend the winter ashore, where the hull can be checked for rust along the keel and the chines and recoated before relaunch. In Dutch home waters such as the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea, depth rather than wind is often what limits a keel yacht, and the tide tables matter as much as the forecast. The large Suncoast yachts are far too heavy for a trailer; they move between berth and hard standing by crane.
