With a slalom or racing Canadian canoe, however, competition is the purpose, and the typical damage occurs there: contact with the gate pole, collision at the boat rack, damage while launching under time pressure. With these boats the inclusion is a prerequisite for a sensible policy, not an add-on.
For clubs the question of use applies: changing athletes are not private use, and that has to be declared, with the number of boats and a list of the individual values. Carbon boats are also sensitive to point loads and delamination; the attribution between an incident and fatigue decides the cover. Report incidents promptly, even if no damage is visible at first.
