Boat insurance for Southern Dalmatia and Dubrovnik
Between Pelješac, Mljet, Lastovo and Dubrovnik the jugo sets the weather: a warm, steady wind from the south east that pushes a long swell into every bay open that way. The bura arrives cold and gusty from the north east, in summer for hours rather than days. Afternoons bring the maestral from the north west, the nevera from the west. Off Mljet and Lastovo boats lie to park buoys, which Lastovo nature park clears once 20 metres a second are forecast.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from April to October and berths sit in the costliest band on the Croatian coast: a berth around Dubrovnik averages well above one in the Kvarner, and there is little free in high summer. Wintering ashore is possible at Komolac in the Rijeka Dubrovačka, though hard standing is scarcer in the south than further north, so book early. On a park buoy, look over your own line and shackle.
What this means for your policy
This belongs to the Croatian Adriatic cruising range, which a contract written for the Solent, the Irish Sea or the Channel will not reach. Two questions for the contract: does it name the marina the boat actually lies in, and what applies when the boat has to be taken off a park buoy on an official warning? Separately, Croatia asks for an annual permit from the harbour master, and each protected area for a ticket.
