Worth knowing
Hillyard; cover, cost and conditions
Whatever is permanently installed or carried on board belongs in the schedule attached to the policy. On a sailing yacht such as the Moonfleet 36, built from 1985 to 1996, that means electronics, sails and the rest of the equipment. They feed into the agreed value on which full hull cover bases its payment.
Theft of parts is included in full hull cover, as are collision, grounding and vandalism. Without a schedule it remains open in the event of a claim what was on board, which is why a complete list when taking out the policy is worthwhile.
Production ended in 1996, and trading is second-hand. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, payment is made with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old") and in the Premium tariff with no age limit. On sailing yachts the sail area counts towards the premium, along with the value, the year of construction and the cruising range.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is the electronics on board part of the insured value?
Permanently installed and carried equipment feeds into the agreed value if you list it when taking out the policy. Theft of parts is included in full hull cover.
What happens if individual parts are stolen?
Full hull cover covers theft of parts including the outboard, along with collision, grounding and vandalism. Theft of the entire boat already falls under limited hull cover.

Series by Hillyard, build years and cover
Moonfleet 36 is a sailing yacht from Hillyard, built from 1985 to 1996.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
