This is reef country. Banks rise to just under the surface between the mainland and the Giftun islands, and a few hours north, in the Strait of Gubal, four freighters lie on the reef at Abu Nuhas. Charting around Hurghada is usable; further south it thins out and you navigate by eye. The wind is almost always north to north west, squeezed into the axis of the sea by the mountain ranges on either side: southbound is a run, the way home a beat.

The season runs all year, boats stay afloat and frost is not a factor. March to October is the reliably windy half of it; in August the heat ashore goes close to forty degrees. Berths sit in the middle price band: cheap against the western Mediterranean, though the resort marinas at El Gouna and Hurghada are the dearer end of this coast. Left unattended, the boat needs somebody to check the lines after a blow.
What this means for your policy
This coast belongs to the Red Sea cruising range; a Mediterranean range stops short of it, and the Suez Canal needs the canal range as well. Two questions for the contract: what applies to touching bottom on a reef when the Egyptian authority claims compensation for coral damage, and what evidence is needed for a claim settled through a local agent, since the offices here deal with agents rather than with skippers.
