Boat insurance for Salzkammergut lakes
Attersee and Traunsee sit in deep troughs between steep flanks, 169 and 191 metres down; the Traunsee is the deepest lake in Austria. In settled summer weather the Rosenwind comes in from the north-east at three to four Beaufort, from midday until evening. The danger is not that wind but what arrives between: thunderstorms and the Föhn are what the alpine storm warning service exists for. Holding ground is only found near the shore.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from May to September and berths are in the upper price band: most of the shore is private, and on the Attersee the federal forestry service leases out the buoys and jetties. The big lakes seldom freeze over, yet storage ashore and winterising are still the rule. If your engine burns fuel, plan around the summer closure: from 1 July to 31 August it stays off on Attersee, Traunsee and Mondsee.
What this means for your policy
These lakes belong to the Austrian cruising range; a schedule written for German inland waters stops at the border. Two questions to put to your own policy: is storm damage at a leased buoy or jetty included without an extra clause, and are salvage and wreck removal named with a limit of their own? In 169 metres of water that is not a side issue.
