Boat insurance for Phuket and the Andaman Sea
The season is the north east monsoon, November to April: moderate wind from the north east, settled sea, little rain. From May to October the south west monsoon pushes swell onto the west coast while Phang Nga Bay, on the eastern side, stays sheltered. There the limestone rises straight out of the water, its reefs reach a long way offshore and are not fully charted. A tidal stream runs over the banks, about two and a half metres at springs.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from November to April and berths sit in the middle price band. The large marinas are all on the east side of the island, each with a hardstand and a lift; the channel into Boat Lagoon is only passable near high water. Similan and Surin are closed from mid May to mid October. On the roadstead at Ao Chalong, where you clear in, the usual damage is a neighbour dragging in a squall.
What this means for your policy
Phuket belongs to the cruising range for South East Asia and Australia; a Mediterranean range on a British policy stops a very long way short of it. Two questions for the contract: does it apply while the boat sits ashore on the hardstand through the south west monsoon, including the lift itself, and is use in a charter fleet agreed in writing if the boat is left in management there?
