Boat insurance for The Schlei
The Schlei reaches 42 kilometres inland from Schleimünde to Schleswig, alternating between lake like widenings and narrows; at Missunde it is barely a hundred metres across. Average depth is about three metres, and the buoyed fairway holds that as far as Lindaunis but narrows to thirty five metres in places. A steady westerly pushes water out of the inlet and an easterly banks it up, so the level can sit more than a metre off the mean.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from April to October and the harbours stay open into November. Berths are in the middle price band, and the large harbours are Maasholm, Kappeln, Arnis, Missunde and Schleswig. Boats come ashore for the winter, with yards and sheds at Arnis, Kappeln and Schleswig. Above Kappeln the inlet is unlit: both bridges open only between sunrise and sunset.
What this means for your policy
This is a Baltic seaway and not a German inland water, so the cruising range in the contract has to carry the Baltic even where the place looks like a river. Two questions for the policy: is grounding in shallow water named as a cause of damage, and how is contact with a bridge, a mooring pile or a channel buoy treated?
