Where the boating schools in Sweden are listed
We keep no list of individual schools, because such a list is wrong within a season. We name the bodies that maintain their own register of approved schools and keep it current. Those are the directories that hold up.

Context
How training works in Sweden
Sweden relies on voluntary certification, and almost everyone takes the förarintyg anyway. The reason is simple: charter companies, insurers and clubs all ask for it even though the state does not. Training runs through a dense network of examiners approved by Nämnden för båtlivsutbildning, whose register lists them by place.
Boating in the archipelago takes more than the certificate. Navigating between unmarked rock is a craft, and it is what Swedish courses teach, which makes a local course worth more than the same syllabus taught inland.
Recognition, charter, cover
What the certificate means outside the classroom
Recognition abroad
The kustskepparintyg is the Swedish basis for an ICC. Foreign certificates are recognised for visitors.
What the charter base asks for
Archipelago bases normally ask for the förarintyg or an equivalent foreign certificate, plus local experience.
All countries at a glanceWhat matters for cover
The Swedish archipelago sits in the Baltic cruising area. Grounding is by far the most common claim there, which is a reason to look closely at full hull cover.

Common questions about boating in Sweden
Do I need a boating licence in Sweden?
Not for pleasure craft up to 12 metres in length and 4 metres in beam. Above that Sweden requires a certificate of competence.
Why does everyone take the förarintyg then?
Because charter companies, insurers and clubs ask for it. Voluntary does not mean without consequence.
Does limited hull cover include grounding?
No. Grounding belongs to full hull cover, and in the archipelago it is the most common claim of all.

Do you run a boating school?
A training boat operates commercially, with a different person at the helm every hour and an instructor who carries the liability. That calls for its own arrangement, not a private policy.
