Boat insurance for Menorca
Menorca sits more exposed than the rest of the Balearics. The north coast is open to the tramuntana, which arrives without warning and builds within minutes; the only shelter there is the narrow bay of Fornells and the inlet at Addaia. On the south side the calas open seaward, so any swell from offshore turns a quiet anchorage into a lee shore. Then there is the rissaga: in Ciutadella harbour the water level can swing by more than a metre within minutes.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from April to October. Berths sit in the top price band, and the sheltered harbours around Maó are among the most sought after in the islands. Winters are mild, with daytime highs near fourteen degrees and no ice, but the northerly gales keep coming. Anchoring on seagrass is banned; buoy fields take its place in the bays.
What this means for your policy
Menorca falls under the cruising range for the Spanish Balearics; wording written for home waters and a Channel crossing does not reach this far. Two questions for the contract: how is damage at anchor and on a mooring treated, and does the wording allow the boat to stay in the islands the year round, including the months when nobody checks on her?
