Boat insurance for East Frisian Islands
Seven large islands lie in a chain off the coast, with the drying flats of the Wadden Sea behind them and the gats between them draining the lot. The tidal range runs between two and three metres, highest towards the Ems. In the Norderney gat the stream averages about one and a half knots and reaches four on the ebb. The bar is the shallowest part and the dangerous one: with tide against wind it breaks. Channels shift, so charts age quickly.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from April to October, and longer passages belong in the summer months, when there is less sea running. Berths sit in the middle price band. On the mainland the usual harbours are Norddeich, Greetsiel, Hooksiel, Bensersiel and Neuharlingersiel, with island harbours at Borkum, Norderney, Langeoog and Wangerooge. Boats come ashore for the winter; yards with a travel hoist and sheds sit at Hooksiel.
What this means for your policy
This belongs to the Wadden Sea cruising range, so a range written for inland waters stops well short of it and a Baltic range does not carry it either. Two questions for the policy: is grounding named as a cause of damage, and how is damage treated that happens while the boat sits on the bottom in a harbour or on the flats?
