Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from May to September, berths are in the upper price band and scarce; many boats lie on moorings. Boats winter afloat, usually in Milazzo or on Sicily. If you take a mooring, check its condition yourself rather than trusting the operator.

What owners ask about this area
Is damage to someone else's buoy, and damage caused by it, covered?
Two different things. What you damage on someone else's buoy is paid by the liability cover, in every tariff. If the buoy gives way and your boat drifts, strands or collides, the damage to your own boat is an accident event and covered from Basis-Plus. The buoy itself we do not replace; it is not part of your craft.
How is a salvage off a rocky shore settled?
What you spend to avert or reduce a covered loss is reimbursed even beyond the sum insured, on our instruction or where you could reasonably consider it necessary. If an authority orders salvage or wreck removal, a separate limit applies: up to 1 million euros in Basis-Plus and 2.5 million in Premium. Call before you engage anyone.
Good holding is rare and deep here: does that change the cover?
Not the cover, but the care expected. Anchoring in great depth with too little chain invites the question of gross negligence; there we waive any reduction up to 25 per cent of the sum insured in Basis-Plus and up to 50 per cent in Premium. The chain itself is wear and insured in no tariff.
