Côte d’Azur
Between Saint-Tropez and Menton the coast is steep, deep and densely built up. The weather is usually calm, but the mistral out of the Rhône valley reaches this far and turns a pleasant afternoon into six on the Beaufort scale with a short steep sea within hours. At anchor in open bays that is the most common cause of loss, along with bumps in crowded harbours.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from April to October and berths are expensive, at the top end as expensive as anywhere in the Mediterranean. Boats can stay afloat in winter. If you hold a permanent berth, remember the values around you: third party damage to the boat alongside runs into six figures here.
What this means for your policy
The area belongs to the cruising range for the Côte d’Azur and Corsica. The decisive figure is the liability sum, not the hull cover. Also check whether your policy covers theft of tenders and outboards in this region without a special agreement.
