Lake Garda
The northern part lies in a deep trough between steep flanks, and that is exactly what creates the wind system the lake is known for: the Peler from the north in the morning, the Ora from the south in the afternoon. Between the regular winds, gusts fall out of the side valleys at twice the base strength. Boats on moorings and in open bays take the worst of it.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from April to October and berths are in the upper price band, because space on the shore is scarce. Ashore storage is usual in winter; the north can freeze hard. If you use a mooring, have chain and shackles checked yearly, because most storm damage on this lake starts at a worn connection.
