The main period for blue water yachts is November to April, with berths in the middle price band. Cape Town has very good yards and sailmakers at prices well below European levels; many owners use the stop for repairs and refits.

Storm is named in every hull tariff, from force 8, that is 62 kilometres an hour. In summer the south-easter reaches it regularly: secure the reading of the nearest station or the official warning with date and time, and proof later is a non-issue.
