The area works year round with berths in the middle price band, but they are scarce and should be reserved in advance. Ashore storage barely exists; boats stay afloat. If you use the island as a staging point, allow two days of weather margin.

No. Cover applies on all waters inside the agreed cruising range; we have no limit in nautical miles and none about reaching a safe harbour. All that counts is that the passage is inside the range — for Madeira that is the Canaries and Madeira range.
In a south-westerly the harbour gets a surge: what is covered?
If the boat works against the mole, a pontoon or a neighbour, that is a collision and covered from Basis-Plus. Storm as a named peril comes on top but only counts from force 8, that is 62 kilometres an hour. The lines themselves are wear and insured in no tariff.
Anchoring is barely possible anywhere: does that change the policy?
Not the cover, but the arithmetic. Where there is no bay to fall back on, everything hangs on the berth and on salvage: for salvage or wreck removal ordered by an authority a separate limit applies, up to 1 million euros in Basis-Plus and 2.5 million in Premium.
