Berths, season and winter storage
The season is short, May to September, but berths are inexpensive. Winter is hard: the lakes freeze regularly and ashore storage with complete draining is the norm. A boat wintering afloat here is a risk most insurers will only carry by express agreement.

Does my liability cover apply in Poland without restriction?
It applies within the agreed cruising range, and for the Masurian lakes that is the Masuria and Poland range. Inside it the liability cover applies in every tariff; the sum is stated in your schedule, 10 million euros in Basis, 25 million in Basis-Plus and 50 million in Premium. Carry the international insurance card and proof in the harbour is straightforward.
Is frost and ice damage insured?
No. Weather influences such as ice and frost are expressly excluded unless they follow a storm. These lakes freeze over regularly, which is why storage ashore with everything drained is the norm here. Wintering afloat needs an express agreement with us.
What happens if I run aground on an unmarked shallow?
From Basis-Plus running aground is covered as an accident event; the Basis tariff, a partial hull cover, does not include it. Where gross negligence is argued we waive any reduction up to 25 per cent of the sum insured in Basis-Plus and up to 50 per cent in Premium.
