Boat insurance for Gulf of Corinth
The gulf is a long trough between mountains and the wind runs along its axis: a westerly that freshens in the afternoon, hard on the nose on a westbound leg, and gone altogether the next day. The only short way out to the east is the Corinth Canal, 3.4 nautical miles long and open to vessels under seventeen metres in the beam. It is not dependable: after landslides and protection work it was shut from 14 October 2025 until June 2026.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from April to October and berths sit in the middle band. Most of them are town quays; Itea has a marina with 146 berths for boats up to thirty metres, and at Galaxidi you lie alongside with water and power on the quay. If the passage home goes through the canal, keep the route around the Peloponnese open: a closure otherwise costs weeks, and the boat sits in a harbour nobody planned for.
What this means for your policy
The gulf belongs to the Greek cruising range. Two questions for the contract: does the agreed range take in the gulf and the Aegean together, since the passage runs through the canal from one to the other? And what applies in the months the boat lies unattended in harbour while the owner is at home?
