The park holds close to ninety uninhabited islands with no supplies ashore, and anchoring is allowed only in the bays the park lists, most of them with buoys. The bora falls from the coastal range in the north east and reaches gale force in a short time, so a bay open to the north east is the wrong place. Summer days usually bring the maestral from the north west, and between them comes the nevera, a squall from the west that arrives within minutes.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from April to October and berths sit in the upper price band: Dalmatian marinas average more than those in the Kvarner, and the stretch from Biograd to Šibenik is full in high summer. Wintering ashore is the norm, though hard standing is easier to find further north, so book early. If you lie to a park buoy, look over your own line and shackle first.
What this means for your policy
Kornati belongs to the Croatian Adriatic cruising range, which a policy written for home waters will not reach. Two questions for the contract: does it name the marina the boat actually lies in, and what is the excess after grounding, which is the classic claim between these islands? Separately, Croatia asks for a foreign boat to be registered with the harbour master, and the park wants a ticket for each day.
