Boat insurance for Central Dalmatia and Split
Šolta, Brač, Hvar and Vis stand so close off Split that passage south runs through channels. The Split Gates between Šolta and Brač are about 800 metres wide with the islet of Mrduja in the middle, and in summer ferries and small craft share the same line. The bura falls cold and gusty from the north east off the coastal range, the jugo pushes a long swell from the south east into any open bay. The nevera arrives from the west within minutes.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season runs from April to October, which is how long the large marinas charge high season, and berths sit in the upper price band, with little free between Trogir and Split in July and August. Wintering ashore is the norm: Kaštela, Trogir and the bay of Marina keep hard standing with their own travel lift, so book early. Alongside a town quay, keep lines long and fenders ready, because the jugo sends swell in.
What this means for your policy
This belongs to the Croatian Adriatic cruising range, which a contract written for the Solent or the Irish Sea will not reach. Two questions for the contract: does it name the harbour the boat actually lies in, even when it winters ashore somewhere else, and what applies to damage during lifting? Separately, Croatia asks for an annual permit from the harbour master, in person on a first visit.
