Worth knowing
Shakespeare; cover, cost and conditions
The programme comprises 36 model ranges of various kinds: motor boats such as the 540 SR, the 610 Swift, Magnum and Clubman, the 960 motor yacht and an inflatable boat with engine of 7.2 metres. The production periods run from 1974 to 2010. All of these types of boat can be insured with NAMMERT.
On powered boats and inflatable boats the outboard is a part that is easily lost. Full hull cover includes theft of parts including the outboard, and also vandalism, collision and grounding. Theft of the entire boat falls under limited hull cover.
Because production lies in the past, what is at issue today are used boats. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and the agreed value fixes the value in advance. The switching service cancels an existing previous policy free of charge.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the same policy apply to an inflatable boat as to a motor yacht?
The framework is the same, the rating is not. Type of boat, value, year of construction, engine output and cruising range determine the premium for each boat individually.
Who bears the loss in the case of vandalism in the harbour?
Vandalism is part of full hull cover, as is theft of parts including the outboard. There is no time window and no night clause here.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not. The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
