Marlin builds boat trailers for the range up to around two tonnes, trailers for sports boats, inflatable boats and smaller cabin boats, widespread among owners who move their boat over the road seasonally or for races. The reason for naming it is practical: if boat and trailer are stolen together, the most common form of trailer theft, it must be clear which material value was insured. State the manufacturer, the payload and the chassis number. A wheel clamp and a coupling lock reduce the risk measurably; both cost less than the deductible.
During transport itself, securing the load is the point at which damage occurs. Our hull insurance covers road transport with suitable means of transport, and that presupposes that boat and trailer match each other and that the boat is secured as specified. A boat that is carried on a trailer that is too small and is damaged in the process is a case in which the question of the suitable means of transport is raised.
