Asso; cover, cost and conditions

Sixty recorded model ranges form a broad programme of inflatable boats and inflatable boats with an engine, with build years from 1985 to 2022. The same basis applies to all of them: third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium tiers.

Whether an Asso 26 without an engine or an A11 EFB with a power unit, the type of boat helps determine the premium, together with value, year of build, engine power and cruising range. The brand plays no part. A boat without an engine is assessed by the same rules as one with a drive.

As the most recent build years reach 2022, these are predominantly second-hand boats. The agreed value holds the value that has been agreed, in the Premium tariff with no age limit in full hull cover. Legal expenses cover for water sports can be added, for example in the event of a dispute after the purchase of a used boat.

Frequent questions

How high is the limit of indemnity in third-party liability?

Between 10 and 50 million euros, depending on the tariff tier. Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium differ in the amount and in the scope of the hull insurance cover.

Can an inflatable boat without an engine be insured in the same way?

Yes. The premium is based on type of boat, value, year of build, engine power or sail area and cruising range. If there is no engine, that factor is dropped and the remaining cover stays the same.

What this means for the cover

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.

Even without an engine the rule holds: a tear from impact or vandalism is covered, UV ageing is wear.

On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not. The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
