Worth knowing
Crisline; cover, cost and conditions
Seven ranges are recorded, predominantly motor boats, plus the Crisline 37 as a sailing yacht. The oldest models have been built since 1996, some ranges are still in the programme today, others ended in 2003, 2015 or 2018. Anyone buying used here will encounter very different years of construction and types of boat.
After buying a used boat, a dispute often arises only weeks later, when defects come to light. Legal expenses cover for water sports is offered alongside and applies to disputes after the purchase or with a yard. It supplements third-party liability and hull insurance, but does not replace them.
For the boat itself we agree an agreed value in the full hull cover and settle claims with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff without an age limit. Whether a model dates from 1996 or from current production makes no difference to acceptance: year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners are no reason for exclusion.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does insurance help in a dispute after the purchase?
Legal expenses cover for water sports is offered alongside and covers, among other things, disputes after buying a used boat or with a yard. It can be taken out together with third-party liability and hull insurance.
How are boats with a long production period rated?
By type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and the cruising range. What counts is the specific year of construction of your boat and not the period in which the range as a whole was built.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
