Worth knowing
Finnmar; cover, cost and conditions
Nine model ranges are recorded, mostly motor boats and motor yachts such as Family, Commodore, Finmaster, Captain, Courier and Hardtop, plus the Finmar 36 as a sailing yacht. The years of construction lie between 1968 and 1989. No allocation to a segment is stored, and it is not needed for the insurance contract either.
For boats of this period a precise inventory is worthwhile. Whatever electronics and equipment are on board belong in the valuation, because the agreed value records the sum agreed in the contract. Compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
Theft of parts including the outboard is contained in the full hull cover, as are collision, grounding and vandalism. The limited hull cover bears fire, storm, lightning strike and damage in winter storage. Since all ranges ended before 1990, NAMMERT insures here regardless of place of purchase and previous owners.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the equipment on board belong in the sum insured?
Yes. Electronics and equipment flow into the agreed value. Since compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), the inventory at the start of the contract decides the later benefit.
Is a boat built in 1971 still acceptable?
We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. In the Premium tariff the full hull cover with agreed value also applies with no age limit.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
