We have no model ranges on file for Hellas, neither production periods nor types of boat. We therefore say nothing about the yard itself. About the insurance we do: we provide cover regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and small production runs and home-built boats can be insured as well.

For a quotation we do not need the history of the brand but the details of your boat: type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and cruising range. From these we form the premium; the brand plays no part. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy can be taken out online.

The structure is always the same: third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros as the basis, plus limited hull cover or full hull cover with an agreed value and compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). The cover also applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and while in transit.

Can you insure a boat with no known model range?

Yes. What matters are the details of the individual boat, not the brand. Small production runs and home-built boats can be insured as well, regardless of the year of construction and previous owners.

What details do you need instead?

Type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and cruising range. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out the policy online; above that we assess the individual case.

Licence

A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).

Registration

Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.

Waters

Inland, coastal and abroad; plan fairways, bridge clearances, draught and tides.

Equipment

Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.

Cruising range

The agreed cruising range is stated in the policy and can be extended at any time.

Weather

Check wind force in Beaufort and wind direction before casting off, and allow for gusts.
