Sixty model ranges are recorded under Northshore Yachts. These include sailing yachts such as the Southerly 330, 380, 430 and 470 with years of construction between 1996 and 2022, as well as the Supermarine Spearfish 32 Hard Top motor boat, which has been running since 2019 up to the present day. Both types of boat can be insured.
With sailing yachts the sail area goes into the premium, with the motor boat the engine power. In each case the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range are added. The brand has no effect, neither with a Southerly from the 1990s nor with a model built today.
Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out the policy online; above that we examine each case individually. Indemnity follows the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards.

Frequent questions
Are there differences between sailing boats and motor boats in the tariff?
The scope is the same. The only difference is the premium factor: with sailing boats the sail area counts, with motor boats the engine power, in each case alongside value, year of construction and cruising range.
How are older Southerly year models treated?
Like any other boat. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit and with an agreed value.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
