Worth knowing
Robertson & Caine; cover, cost and conditions
Twenty-seven model ranges are recorded under Robertson & Caine, among them cabin catamarans of the Leopard model range from 1997 and inflatable boats without an engine of the Lianya FB series since 2018. No uniform type of boat follows from this, and we do not define one either. Every boat is classified according to its own data.
The premium is based on type of boat, value, year of construction, cruising range and, depending on the propulsion, engine power or sail area. Which of the two applies follows from the actual boat and not from the name of the yard. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy can be taken out online, above that we assess each case individually.
Anyone crossing borders with a cabin catamaran receives the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. Full hull cover works with an agreed value and pays with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. A boat trailer is included at no extra premium, and cover also applies in winter storage.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How do I prove insurance cover abroad?
With the international certificate of insurance, which we issue automatically in ten languages. It is part of the contract and does not have to be requested separately.
Can an inflatable boat without an engine also be insured?
Yes, the same principles apply: third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, plus limited hull cover or full hull cover with an agreed value as you prefer. A trailer is included at no extra premium.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repairs are predictable. Still, set the value at replacement cost, including sails, rigging or gear you bought later.
Even without an engine the rule holds: a tear from impact or vandalism is covered, UV ageing is wear.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
